Sahl Al-Rouj, IdlibIdlib, Syria
Company Participation: Main Contractor
Client: General Directorate For The Irrigation of The Orontes Basin
About Project
This 4,141-meter irrigation tunnel connects the Ain Al-Zarqa Spring to the Al-Balaa Dam, forming a crucial part of the Al-Rouj Plain irrigation system. Completed with advanced tunneling techniques, it ensures efficient water transfer to support agriculture across 10,500 hectares in northern Syria’s food basket.
Scope of Work:
The project involved the precise excavation and construction of the tunnel, reinforced concrete lining, and sealing systems for durability and efficiency. Erection works of the hydraulic and mechanical systems ensured controlled water flow, connecting the tunnel to a broader irrigation network. Early completion of the project by three months allowed the summer flows to be carried through.
Impact:
The tunnel directly benefits over 50,000 residents in 20 villages by ensuring water availability for critical crops, boosting food security and economic resilience. This project represents a sustainable solution for regional water management and agricultural development.
